"The International Baccalaureate aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. To this end, the organization works with schools, governments and international organizations to develop challenging programmes of international education and rigorous assessment. These programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right."

(IBO Mission Statement)

The IB Diploma Programme is an international pre-university programme taught in more than 148 countries worldwide. This program celebrated 50 years of excellence in 2018 and was established at Katedralskolan in 2001. The quality of the programme is guaranteed by an independent IB organization with its Head Office in Switzerland and its new global centre in The Hague. Our language of instruction is English.

The first year is a preparatory year, during which courses are taken in most subjects offered in the Diploma Programme. During the two years of the Diploma Programme, six subjects are studied, chosen from the six groups: three at Higher Level and three at Standard Level. This creates a balance between the Natural sciences, the Humanities, and the Arts.
